Michael Kotin - Chairman       Michael Kotin - Chairman

Michael Kotin graduated from the University of Chicago in 1982 with twin BA degrees in Economics and Business. In 1983, he earned his MBA in Taxation from the University Of Chicago Graduate School of Business and began his CPA career with positions at Peat, Marwick, Mitchell & Company and Coopers & Lybrand, with an industry focus on bank auditing and reporting. Mike then joined Kay-Kay Realty Corp., an Arizona-based consulting firm specializing in asset management of low-income housing tax credit properties, where he has worked as a principal and Vice President of the company since 1990. A licensed real estate broker, he is a certified instructor in real estate and teaches classes in Section 8 procedures, the Fair Housing Act, leasing, LIHTC compliance, and management techniques. Mike travels extensively and is a regular speaker and contributor within the tax credit industry. He was a member of the Board of Directors of Choice Bank, an Arizona state bank which he helped found from 2005-2007. Mike has also been involved in many charitable organizations including Valley Big Brothers/Big Sisters and Hillel at ASU. Currently, he is the executive director of Five Points Neighborhood Development, Inc., a not-for-profit whose purpose is to provide affordable housing to low-income tenants in the Denver area. Mike, a Valley resident since 1983, lives in Scottsdale with his wife Nina, daughter Lindsay, and son Justin. In his spare time, he enjoys big game fishing.


Gary Hickel       Gary Hickel - President & CEO

Gary Hickel, CEO and President of Paradise Valley National Bank (in organization), oversees all aspects of the company's operations in Arizona. Paradise Valley Bank will be located at 5010 East Shea Blvd., Suite D100, Scottsdale, Arizona 85254. A veteran banker with more than 35 years of experience in the Arizona banking industry, Gary served as President and CEO of Bank USA from 2005 to 2008. Prior to that, he was Senior Vice-President, Western Regional Manager, for Harris Private Bank. Gary was President and one of the founding members of Valley First Community Bank in Scottsdale, which opened in 1997. Gary has a bachelor's degree from Wichita State University and a master's degree from Arizona State University. In addition, he graduated with honors from the Pacific Coast Banking School in Seattle. Gary received the National Volunteerism Award from President Bush in 2007, and was named a 2008 Center of Influence by the Arizona Bankers Association. A Phoenix resident, Gary is a member and past Council member of the Phoenix Thunderbirds, the Scottsdale/Paradise Valley YMCA, and is a current member of the YMCA's Metro Board. Furthermore, he is a member of the CEO Forum Group and St. Mary's Hospital Centurions, as well as a graduate and alumni member of the Valley Leadership Program in Phoenix. Gary and his wife, Mary, have been married for 35 years, and have two daughters. He enjoys hiking the Phoenix Mountain Preserve in Phoenix and the trails near his cabin in Pinetop.


Richard Brock       Richard Brock

Richard Brock attended City University New York, Queensborough College, earned his degree in Electronic Technology Engineering in 1978. In 1991, founded ColourComp Corporation, a software development company, integration and distribution of products for the printing and copier industry. Rich worked as the company's president and watched his company grow to over 100 employees until it was sold in 1997 to Fortune 500 company, IKON Office Solutions, which envisioned the goal of starting a product development division. He then joined IKON Office Solutions as the vice president of product marketing, established a product marketing department for the $5 billion company through their transition from holding company to operating company, and remained until 2001. In 2001, Rich became the general manager and consultant for Electronics For Imaging, where he developed several products for the $500 million software company. He also engineered a new product development division for the company, managed the transition, was involved in a Mergers & Acquisitions group to acquire several companies and built a channel for the distribution of products. In 2002, Rich wound down from this career to devote most of his time to the building and development of real estate. Holding a General Contractor license, he founded Bedbrock Developers L.L.C. in 2002 for the building and general contracting of authentic, European-style extraordinary luxury homes in Paradise Valley and North Scottsdale, which are priced 4 million plus. In 2005, Bedbrock Developers was selected Showhouse Builder by Arizona Foothills Magazine. Rich and his wife, Joan, are also very active in various charitable organizations, the CCFA & JDRF where they have both served on the boards. Rich enjoys a variety of activities including snow skiing, golf and studying ancient architecture. Rich and Joan have two children and are very involved in their activities, karate, basketball, baseball, volleyball, golf, piano and theater.


Ellen Gitt       Ellen Gitt

Ellen Gitt was born and raised in Michigan, where she attended the University of Michigan College of Pharmacy in Ann Arbor. Graduating in 1980 with a Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy, she began her career in California. With subsequent moves to Arizona and the Washington, D.C. area, Ellen gained experience in retail, hospital, consultant and managed-care pharmacy. She was the Pharmacy Supervisor for Kaiser Permanente in Gaithersburg, Maryland, where her responsibilities included managing department resources, monitoring and maintaining high levels of productivity and ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.

Ellen is a lifetime member of the University of Michigan Alumni Association and a member of the Arizona Pharmacy Alliance. She is a participant and supporter of the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, as well as a supporter of many other charitable organizations, including Children's Cancer Research Fund, American Cancer Society, Hillel Foundation, Special Olympics, Arizona Humane Society and the Jewish Community Foundation.

She resides in Paradise Valley with her husband, Jeffrey, and their 3 children and currently works part-time at her husband's medical practice. Ellen's outside interests include snow skiing, reading, traveling and fitness.


Jerry L. Guttman       Jerry L. Guttman

Jerry L. Guttman has been involved in the Financial Services arena since 1981. He attended Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Michigan where he studied Business Administration. He founded Guttman Tax Advisory Group and Nationwide Planning and Benefits in 1996 which helps individuals and businesses throughout the country. Jerry is a nationally recognized speaker and instructor who is an authority on Financial, Tax, and Estate Planning specializing in the issues of tax and utilizing tax returns as a basis to planning. During his years in the business, Jerry has found himself focused and helping his clients in the areas of tax reduction and he has become an authority on Government entitlements. Jerry frequently appears on many radio shows such as BNN, Consumer Hotline, N.P.R. and many others throughout the country. He presently hosts a local radio program on KFNN Financial News Radio called "Tuesdays with Jerry" at 2pm and previously hosted the NBC affiliate in the Phoenix area, "The Asset Planning Solutions Hour," advising on financial, estate and business planning, tax issues and trusts. Jerry also writes articles for numerous publications nationwide. An outstanding speaker and frequent lecturer, he has spoken before many groups nationally including the Arch Dioceses, University of Michigan, and International Cruises Lines. Jerry has also spoken at numerous public seminars given in conjunction with many other colleges throughout the country and at numerous business and accounting firms. He has been acknowledged and credited for his excellence in seminar work by many universities, Valley colleges and services. Jerry continues to expand his education through industry continuing education courses during the year. Jerry is married to his wife, Lori, and has 3 children. In his spare time, he likes to read, play hockey and spend time with his wonderful family.


Tim Jorden       Tim Jorden

Tim Jorden attended Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana where he earned a Business-Finance degree in 1989. After graduation, he played in the NFL for 6 years with the Arizona Cardinals, Pittsburgh Steelers and San Francisco Forty-Niners. Upon retiring from professional football, Tim entered the banking industry by joining State Savings Bank in 1995 as a residential loan officer. Tim was promoted to regional sales manager, managing the production and marketing of eleven loan originators in the Scottsdale region. In 2001 Tim helped found Choice Lending Group, LLC in Scottsdale. As a partner in Choice Lending Group, Tim oversaw mortgage loan product development while managing the company's loan production and staffing. After Choice Lending Group merged with Choice Bank in 2003, Tim held the position of Senior Vice President until 2005. At Choice Bank, Tim managed loan production and underwriting, oversaw loan product development and solicited depository relationships. In 2005, he joined 1st Advantage Mortgage where he manages all Arizona loan production, loan operations and staffing. In December of 2008, Tim founded Paradise Valley Mortgage Corporation, which will become a subsidiary of Paradise Valley National Bank. In addition to his professional life, Tim has been involved with various non-profit organizations including St. Patrick's Catholic Church, where he was a co-chair for a $4.5M capital campaign. Tim served on the Board of Directors for the Ahwatukee-Foothills YMCA and was Chairman of the Board in 2000 and 2001. He recently joined the board at the Scottsdale-Paradise Valley YMCA. Also, Tim served as a Site Council Member for Sequoya Elementary in the Scottsdale School District from 2004-2005. He is married to Laura, and has two children, Cassidy and Allison. In his free time, Tim enjoys coaching soccer and softball for his daughters' teams and the occasional round of golf.


Veronica Manolio       Veronica Manolio

Veronica Manolio, though not originally born in Arizona, considers herself a true "Arizona girl." Veronica attended high school locally, earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Arizona State University in 1996, and graduated from the University of Arizona College of Law in 1999. Working for a short time in the criminal defense world, Veronica decided that being in a courtroom was her true passion. In 2000, she joined the law firm of Ronan & Firestone, PLC and worked with that firm for more than eight years as an associate and then a partner. In January 2009, Veronica and her two partners (Charles Kelhoffer and Merrick Firestone) formed the new firm Kelhoffer, Manolio & Firestone, PLC. Veronica acts as the managing partner of the firm.

Veronica specializes in commercial litigation but enjoys the occasional criminal defense case. Specifically, her practice concentrates on contract litigation, construction litigation, tort litigation, and complex commercial litigation. Recently, her practice has centered on foreclosure defense and other foreclosure, short sale and real estate-related litigation.

In addition to her professional endeavors, Veronica seeks athletic challenges. In the past few years, she hiked the Grand Canyon, ran her first half-marathon, and successfully completed the "3-Day" walk for Breast Cancer walking 60 miles in three days. Veronica actively participates in fundraising for various charitable organizations and is an Auxiliary Member and Registered Attorney for the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) providing both discount and pro bono counsel for veterans. Veronica also volunteers as a mentor and judge for the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA). The youngest of two children, Veronica loves spending time with her family. But her favorite pastimes include reading, hiking, and spending time with her husband, Art, and their beautiful dog.


Doreen Reinke       Doreen Reinke

Doreen Reinke was born in Perth Amboy, New Jersey and moved to Paradise Valley in 1972. She earned her Bachelors degree in Business Management in 2001 from the University of Phoenix. Doreen has been in the insurance industry since 1976, holding various Claims and Operations positions. Since 1991, Doreen has been employed with Scottsdale Insurance Company, an excess and surplus lines carrier, and subsidiary of Nationwide Insurance Company. At Scottsdale Insurance Company, Doreen is Vice President of Operations and a member of the Senior Executive Leadership Team. In that capacity, Doreen also serves on the Company's Board of Directors. Doreen is a certified coach with a primary focus on career development and life transitions.

Community service is one of Doreen's many passions. She has served on the YMCA Scottsdale/Paradise Valley Board of Managers since 1999, and held the chairperson role from 2007-2008. In 2007, the Reinke family was recognized by the YMCA as the Scottsdale/Paradise Valley Family of the Year. Doreen is a 2003 graduate of Scottsdale Leadership, Inc. and has been a member of the Board of Directors since 2006. In 2006, Doreen was awarded the City of Scottsdale's Martin Luther King, Jr. award for her efforts in promoting civil and human rights in the community. In partnership with Diversity Leadership Alliance (DLA) of Phoenix, Doreen facilitates executive leaders across Metropolitan Phoenix in the transformation of culture to build a more inclusive community.

Doreen and her husband Brian have been married 32 years and reside in Fountain Hills. They love to spend quality time with their daughter and granddaughter. Their leisure time is usually spent at their cabin in Pine with immediate family and friends fishing, hiking or reading. An avid sports fan, Doreen has been a season ticket holder with the Phoenix Suns for the past six years.


Scott Sanford       Scott Sanford

Scott Sanford graduated with a degree in marketing and sociology from the University of Nebraska in 1997, and moved to Scottsdale in 1998. In 2002 he joined Realty Executives real estate firm. An entrepreneur at heart, Scott started Sanford Properties Inc., a real estate development and refurbishing company, which handles projects in Arizona, Hawaii, and the Midwest.

In Febraury 2008, Scott helped start Benefiq, a Scottsdale based software and benefits company, and currently holds the Chief Operating Officer position.

With a passion for helping children, he is a contributor to MannaRelief, a non-profit organization affiliated with Mannatech Inc., which provides state-of-the-art nutritional supplementation to children in need throughout the world. Scott lives in Scottsdale with his wife Cassandra and their 2 daughters. In his free time, he enjoys participating in all competitive sports, boating, water skiing/wakeboarding and hiking.



Alex Stivrins       Alex Stivrins

Alex Stivrins was born in Lincoln, Nebraska, and attended the University of Colorado on a scholarship, graduating in 1985. He gained acceptance into medical school in 1985 and also was awarded one of ten NCAA post-graduate scholarships to attend medical school. Alex's first career was as a professional basketball player, which he played for ten seasons from 1985 to 1996. His professional career included stops in the NBA, CBA, France, Spain, Italy, and Japan. A Certified Financial Planner (CFP) holding the Series 7, 63, and 66 designations, Alex has worked in the financial services industry for the past eleven years. In 1997, he began working with Prudential Securities. Four years later, he earned a position with John Driscoll & Company in Phoenix and is currently the Investment Specialist with their company. Alex also enjoys working with children and is very involved in coaching youth sports, primarily through the YMCA. In addition, he is active in the St. Patrick's Catholic Faith Community, participating in the men's club and many fundraising committees. Alex met his wife, Claire, on the island of Tenerife in Spain while playing professional basketball. They were married in Worth, England in 1993 and currently live in Scottsdale with their four children. Alex enjoys traveling, both domestically and internationally, with his family.


Gerald Whitley       Gerald Whitley

Gerald Whitley graduated from the University of Santa Clara in 1962 with a degree in accounting. He went to work for Arthur Andersen & Co as a staff accountant in San Jose, California. For twelve years, Jerry worked with many high tech companies including Memorex, a New York Stock Exchange company. His hard work earned him a partnership at AA & Co. He transferred to Columbus, Ohio and soon took over the audit division, supervising 65 accountants. In 1984, Jerry left public accounting relocating to Scottsdale, Arizona. He joined Antigua Sportswear as CFO in 1985. Jerry helped Antigua grow to a $50 million company, until he retired in 2006. Jerry became a consultant for White House Finance Affiliates in 1986, a furniture store founded by his father-in-law in 1950. In 1991, he helped sell the furniture business while the company retained the real property. As treasurer, he manages the company's investments.. While in public accounting, Jerry served as chairman of the board of directors of the Better Business Bureau in San Jose, CA, as chairman of the Upper Arlington Civic Association and as treasurer of the Brookside Country Club, both in Ohio. He was a member of the CPA societies in California, Ohio and Arizona, and is a member of the American Institute of CPA's, having received a 40-year Honorary Membership in 2004. Jerry has been active in St. Patrick's Catholic Community in Scottsdale, serving on the finance board for 16 years and currently as chairman.. He was the president of the men's club and served on three capital campaigns. He has been active in investments including stocks, bonds and real estate and has participated in initial stock offerings of four small independent banks. Jerry and his lovely wife, Pamela, have five children and six grandchildren all residing in Arizona.
