Alex Stivrins was born in Lincoln, Nebraska, and attended the University of Colorado on a scholarship, graduating in 1985. He gained acceptance into medical school in 1985 and also was awarded one of ten NCAA post-graduate scholarships to attend medical school. Alex’s first career was as a professional basketball player, which he played for ten seasons from 1985 to 1996. His professional career included stops in the NBA, CBA, France, Spain, Italy, and Japan. A Certified Financial Planner (CFP) holding the Series 7, 63, and 66 designations, Alex has worked in the financial services industry for the past eleven years. In 1997, he began working with Prudential Securities. Four years later, he earned a position with John Driscoll & Company in Phoenix and is currently the Investment Specialist with their company. Alex also enjoys working with children and is very involved in coaching youth sports, primarily through the YMCA. In addition, he is active in the St. Patrick’s Catholic Faith Community, participating in the men’s club and many fundraising committees. Alex met his wife, Claire, on the island of Tenerife in Spain while playing professional basketball. They were married in Worth, England in 1993 and currently live in Scottsdale with their four children. Alex enjoys traveling, both domestically and internationally, with his family.
