Gerald Whitley graduated from the University of Santa Clara in 1962 with a degree in accounting. Soon after graduation, he went to work for the international accounting firm of Arthur Andersen & Co as a staff accountant in their office in San Jose, California. During the next twelve years, Jerry worked with many high tech companies including Memorex, which was listed on the New York Stock Exchange. His hard work eventually earned him a partnership at AA & Co, after which he transferred to Columbus, Ohio, where he soon took over the management of the audit division, supervising 65 accountants. In late 1984, Jerry left public accounting and relocated to Scottsdale, Arizona. He joined Antigua Sportswear as the CFO in 1985 and was responsible for the company’s financial reporting and compliance reports. Over the next 22 years, Jerry helped this small business grow into a $50 million company, until he retired in the fall of 2006. In addition, Jerry undertook the role of consultant for White House Finance Affiliates in 1986, which was a furniture store founded by his father-in-law in 1950. In 1991, he helped sell the furniture business while the company retained ownership of the real property, which it now leases. As the current treasurer, he manages the company’s investment portfolio and all required filings. While in public accounting, Jerry served as chairman of the board of directors for the Better Business Bureau in San Jose, CA, as chairman of the Upper Arlington Civic Association and treasurer of the Brookside Country Club, both in Ohio. He was a member of the state CPA societies in California, Ohio and Arizona, and is also a member of the American Institute of CPA’s, having received a 40-year Honorary Membership in 2004. For the past twenty years, Jerry has been very active in St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Scottsdale, serving on the finance board for 15 years and currently as chairman of the board; he is also the president of the men’s club and has served on three capital campaigns for church fund raising. He has been active in many investments including stocks, bonds and real estate partnerships and has participated in the initial stock offerings of four small independent banks. Jerry is married to his lovely wife, Pamela, and has five children and six grandchildren who all reside in Arizona.
